Weddings

First Presbyterian Church is a stunning wedding venue. We host wedding ceremonies for both members and non-members.

We believe that marriage is a gift of God and that a wedding is about making a life-long commitment to one another, publicly witnessed and acknowledged by God, friends, family, and community. Weddings at FPC are meaningful services of Christian worship, conducted by a minister. At FPC, we want marriage to have a strong foundation. Therefore, in most cases, we ask that a couple meet with the pastor a few times in preparation for their new life together. An initial informational meeting with the pastor needs to be scheduled prior to committing to a date or submitting a wedding application.

How do I schedule the wedding?

The first step is to contact the church office (office@fpcslc.org or 801-363-3889) to schedule an appointment with the pastor. The inquiring couple must attend this initial meeting with the pastor to discuss the wedding. If, after the discussion, the couple and the pastor agree to hold the wedding service at FPC, then the couple will need to:

  • Fill out a Wedding Application and submit the fee.

  • Schedule the remaining pre-wedding meetings with the pastor.

  • Contact the Wedding Coordinator to make plans for the service.

What are the facilities like?

Our beautifully renovated, historic sanctuary, built in 1905, features stained glass windows and oak pews. The sanctuary seats approximately 700. Two reception areas are available at the church. The church is also located close to downtown Salt Lake City, which offers many hotels with reception facilities.

What are the fees?

There is a flat fee of $1,500 for the wedding ceremony for non-members, which includes the use of the building for both a wedding rehearsal and the ceremony, and includes the services of the pastor, the wedding coordinator, the custodian, and, if desired, the organist. The fee does not include the reception halls, flowers, special decorations, or any video or technological needs (these can be provided for additional fees upon request.)

Who may officiate?

One of the pastors of First Presbyterian Church conducts the wedding ceremony. In special cases, an ordained minister of another Christian church may perform the ceremony, if approved by the FPC pastor.
