Upcoming Series: Miracles of Jesus

The gospels record some pretty wild stories of Jesus doing things that are unexplainable: walking on water, feeding thousands of people from one kid’s sack-lunch, healing the sick and raising the dead, turning water into wine, calming the storms, etc. Most of us probably can’t help but doubt the miracles we find in scripture, holding a skeptical view toward anything unscientific or mysterious. Our logical brains struggle to accept the unexplainable or make sense of things out of the ordinary. But our emotional and spiritual selves can’t help but long for miracles. For anyone who has ever received a difficult diagnosis, had their heart broken, or held a sick child… surely, you’ve prayed for a miracle.

This summer we’re going to dive into "The Miracles of Jesus," and consider what these stories teach us about God… and about ourselves. As we do, I invite you to hold both pieces together—the part of you that is skeptical of Jesus’s ability to walk on water… and the part of you that believes in a God who promises to make a way where there seems to be no way. May we find ourselves in awe by what we learn together!

New to First Presbyterian?

Here at First Pres, we aim to be a warm, intergenerational community of Christ followers that welcome all people (and we do mean everyone!) to worship God and grow in faith. We’re just a bunch of imperfect people, committed to following Jesus and learning how to love one another more fully. We keep the mission of our church pretty simple; love God, love one another, love neighbor, and make disciples. It might be simple, but we’ve decided that’s enough to give our lives to! We hope you’ll join us.
