Love God. Love one another. Love neighbor. Make disciples.
Habits that Heal
Longing to love God more fully? Want to experience more of God? Practicing the spiritual disciplines will get you there. If you feel stuck in your faith, the disciplines will get you unstuck. When taken seriously, these biblical rhythms or sacred practices create the space needed in our lives to do holy work, deep within our souls. But the disciplines are not just another self-help gimmick or shortcut, like the latest fad diet or ‘life-hack to boost your self-esteem.’ In fact, they're the very practices that will help to strip away your desire for gimmicks and short-cuts! They are the ‘means of grace’ that will reconnect you with your own soul, creating space for healing… ultimately creating space to encounter the love of God. Sundays this fall, may we be transformed by Habits that Heal.
New to First Presbyterian?
Here at First Pres, we aim to be a warm, intergenerational community of Christ followers that welcome all people (and we do mean everyone!) to worship God and grow in faith. We’re just a bunch of imperfect people, committed to following Jesus and learning how to love one another more fully. We keep the mission of our church pretty simple; love God, love one another, love neighbor, and make disciples. It might be simple, but we’ve decided that’s enough to give our lives to! We hope you’ll join us.
