Serving Our Community

Pamela’s Closet

Long-time homeless advocate Pamela Atkinson runs a closet housed at First Presbyterian Church to collect and distribute clothes and hygiene supplies for the homeless of downtown Salt Lake City.  She especially supplies clothes for children and families faced with no housing, although warm gloves and socks are usually on hand for everyone.  If you would like to get involved with Pamela’s Closet, please give your contact information to Jen in our main office and she will get that to Pamela.

Crossroads Urban Center

Located just four blocks from First Presbyterian Church, Crossroads Urban Center has served those in need in Salt Lake City for 50 years.  They have an active food pantry to which First Pres contributes.  They are also socially active in protecting and assisting the poor and First Pres participates in those activities as well.  To find out more about Crossroads Urban Center and how you can help, visit their website at: http://www.crossroadsurbancenter.org/

Ronald McDonald House

Located on South Temple and 900 East is the newly renovated Ronald McDonald House.  Operating on donations alone, this facility houses 72 families with children at the local hospitals at no cost to them.  We share ministry at Ronald McDonald House by serving dinner on the first Thursday of every month, hosting movie nights, and donating supplies as needed.  To get involved, please contact Pastor Chris.  To learn more about Ronald McDonald House, visit their website at: http://www.rmhcslc.org/

St. Vincent de Paul

Each month volunteers from First Presbyterian make 800 sandwiches to be distributed to the homeless at St. Vincent DePaul’s kitchen, part of the Catholic Community Services of Salt Lake City.  St. Vincent’s serves over 1,000 meals a day for those in need.

Dinner @ Vinny’s Sandwich Making:
On the second Wednesday of each month, volunteers from First Presbyterian make sandwiches to be distributed to the homeless at St. Vincent DePaul’s kitchen.

Serving Vinny’s:
Volunteers from First Presbyterian also join Pamela Atkinson to serve dinner at St. Vincent’s.
